Hong Kong has 236 outlying islands and besides the historic Star Ferry sailing between Kowloon and Hong Hong Island there are a number of ferry services to other islands in Hong Kong as well as Macau and cities in the Pearl River Delta (PRD).
The main pier for boats to the outlying islands is the Outlying Islands Ferry Pier, opposite the International Finance Center in Central; there are also ferry departures from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The main companies offering ferry services in Hong Kong are: New World First Ferry (NWFF), Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd (HKKF), Chuen Key Ferry Ltd and the small Tsui Wah Ferry Service. The Octopus Card is valid on most ferry services.
In general fares are higher at weekends, public holidays and for Fast Ferry services.

New World First Ferry (NWFF)
New World First Ferry (NWFF) has regular services to the small island of Cheung Chau and Mui Wo on Lantau from Central. On the ordinary ferry prices are HK$13 to Mui Wo and HK$11.50 to Cheung Chau with prices about double for the Fast Ferry service. The company also operates ferries from North Point to Hung Hom and Kowloon City. Its Hong Kong to Macau route was sold to Turbojet in 2011.
Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd (HKKF)
Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd (HKKF) has ferries to Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wanon on Lamma Island and also to the island of Peng Chau.
Chuen Key Ferry Ltd
Chuen Key Ferry offers sailings from Aberdeen via Mo Tat Wan to Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma Island. Weekday adult single fares are HK$9.20.
Chu Kong Passenger Transport
Chu Kong Passenger Transport offers ferries to Macau as well as destinations in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) including Dou Men, Gao Ming, He Shan, Shun De, Jiang Men, Lian Hua Shan, Zhong Shan, Zhong Shan-San Bu, She Kou, Fu Yong (Shenzhen). Departures are from the China Ferry Terminal with some services from Hong Kong International Airport.
Tsui Wah Ferry Service
Tsui Wah Ferry Service has boats from Aberdeen to Po Toi Island (via Stanley Blake Pier) for HK$20 a single voyage. There are other services in the New Territories between Wong Shek, Wan Tsai (Nam Fung Wan) & Chek Keng; Ma Liu Shui & Tung Ping Chau; Tap Mun, Ko Lau Wan & Wong Shek (via Chek Keng); Ma Liu Shui & Tap Mun (via Sham Chung & Lai Chi Chong).
Hongkong and Yaumati Ferry Company Limited
The Hongkong and Yaumati Ferry Company Limited is a car ferry between North Point, Kwun Tong, and Mui Wo on Lantau Island.
TurboJet
TurboJet has high-speed ferries to Macau (Outer Harbour) from Sheung Wan (departures every 20-30 minutes; journey time approximately 55 minutes), Kowloon (to Outer Harbour & Taipa; approx. 1 hour), Tuen Mun (to Outer Harbour & Taipa; 40 minutes), Shekou (1 hour), and Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to Outer Harbour (70 minutes). The company also operates ferries from HKIA to Shekou in the Pearl River Delta (PRD). Journey time is 30 minutes.

Hong Kong Ferry Piers
The Star Ferry leaves from Pier 7 in Central. Departures to Park Island leave from Pier 2, Discovery Bay from Pier 3, Lamma Island (Sok Kwu Wan and Yung Shue Wan) from Pier 4, Cheung Chau & Peng Chau from Pier 5 and Mui Wo from Pier 6. Pier 1 serves as a government pier. Pier 8 is now the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
