As China's economy continues to prosper, with current growth rates in double digits or high single figures, it is expected that the nation's currency will also rise in value vis-a-vis other international currencies, a move that would be welcomed by the US and EU.

Foreign currency and travellers cheques can be changed at Beijing Capital Airport, large branches of the Bank of China, the CITIC Industrial Bank, money changing kiosks and large department stores such as the Friendship Store. Large hotels also offer foreign exchange services.

Be careful of RMB forgeries and check your notes carefully when accepting change in shops.
