Hong Kong Park is an oasis of green in Central close to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and the Peak Tram terminal.

The park was established in 1991 and the site was formerly the location of Victoria Barracks and Glenealy Junior School.

A number of buildings and monuments remain from the barracks. The Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre is housed in the former quarters of married British officers - Cassels Block.

Similarly both Wavell House and Rawlinson House dating from the early 20th century have been converted for alternative use.

Edward Youde Aviary

The Edward Youde Aviary (尤德觀鳥園) is Hong Kong's largest. It is named after Edward Youde, the Governor of Hong Kong from 1982 to 1986.

Within the walk-through facility are around 600 birds from 80 species indigenous to Southeast Asia including Indonesia and New Guinea.

The waterfowl lake holds a variety of waterfowl including pelicans and shelducks.

Museum Of Tea Ware

The Museum Of Tea Ware is housed in Flagstaff House, built in 1846. Flagstaff House was the former residence of the commander of British forces in Hong Kong and is the oldest colonial building still standing on its original site.

The excellent Museum of Tea Ware, a branch of the Hong Kong Museum of Art displays fine Chinese porcelain tea ware including bowls, cups and teapots. The Museum of Tea Ware is free, closed on Tuesdays. The adjacent KS Lo Gallery displays Chinese pottery and stone seals from the collection of Vitasoy magnate KS Lo.

This museum, located in the middle of the park, is well known for putting together Hong Kong's best collection of historical teas and tea ware. The building was converted to become a Museum of Tea Ware in 1984.

In order to facilitate expansion and modernize, a new wing, The K.S. Lo Gallery, added in 1995. Aside from its historical collection, the museum also has regular ceramic art and Chinese tea drinking culture promotions.

Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre

The Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre (vA!) is housed in Cassels Block and provides a space for citizens to both enjoy and create art.

Also contained within the park are the Hong Kong Squash Centre and Forsgate Conservatory.

The Forsgate Conservatory has three sections the Display Plant House, the Dry Plant House and the Humid Plant House. The first presents displays of locally cultivated flowers. The Dry Plant House has a collection of cacti and succulents and the Humid Plant House holds ferns, carnivorous plants as well as species of breadfruit, coffee, rubber and vanilla plants.
