Hong Kong Central Library, Causeway Bay (香港中央圖書館)
The Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay is the largest public library in Hong Kong.
The library was established in 2001 and has the largest and most varied collection of books in Hong Kong. Indeed the Central Library has one fifth of entire collection of the Hong Kong Public Libraries System.
Presently there are 70 static libraries and 12 mobile libraries in the territory of Hong Kong.
Layout
The building has 12 floors with around 2.5 million items in the collection including books, e-books, magazines, maps, music scores, opera scripts, periodicals, photographs, posters and CDs.
There are three lending libraries for children, teenagers and adults with books in both Chinese and English.
The reference section on the eighth and ninth floors includes the following sections: Business & Finance, General Reference, Hong Kong Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science & Technology.
Special Collections
The 11 special collections are the Hong Kong Collection, the Hong Kong Oral History Collection, the Open University of Hong Kong Course Materials Collection, the Hong Kong Music Collection, the Hok Hoi Collection, the Kotewall Collection, the Hong Kong Exchanges Collection, the The Royal Asiatic Society (Hong Kong Branch) Collection, the Hong Kong Literature Collection, the Hong Kong Village Life Collection and the Documents Collection Campaign Collection.

Hours
The library is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 9 pm; Wednesday 1 pm to 9 pm and on
public holidays from 10 am to 7 pm.
Closed on New Year's Day, the first, second and third day of Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The library is just south of Victoria Park and a 5 minute walk east from Causeway Bay MTR station. You can also get to the library by bus, public light bus, or tram.
