Hong Hong's trams are a true icon of the city and have been in operation since 1904.

Hong Kong Tramways Ltd runs 163 tramcars including two antique tramcars along the northern part of Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong's trams are world's largest fleet of double-decker tramcars and carry around 240,000 passengers daily.

Routes

The company operates 6 routes on approximately 16 km of track between Shau Kei Wan, Happy Valley and Kennedy Town. In detail, the routes are:

Western Market to Shau Kei Wan
Happy Valley to Shau Kei Wan
Shek Tong Tsui to North Point
Shek Tong Tsui to Causeway Bay
Kennedy Town to Happy Valley
Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan

Fares

Fares are presently a flat HK$3.30 for adults with seniors and children charged only HK$1.50 and HK$1.60 respectively. Monthly tickets can be purchased for HK$260.

Tram Stops

Each of the 123 tram stops is an estimated 250 meters from the next one and many are close to major hotels in Hong Kong and MTR stations. Trams run from 6 am-midnight daily and frequency is an incredible one tram every 90 seconds in peak periods. Most tram stops are now sheltered from the elements.
