Noon Day Gun, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, China
The Noon Day Gun in Causeway Bay is, as its name suggests, a naval gun, fired in a daily ceremony that has gone on since the 1860's, except during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in the 1940's. The gun is owned and operated by Jardine Matheson.
After the gun has been fired a bell is rung bell eight times to indicate the end of the morning shift. The gun is also fired at midnight on New Year’s Day to bring in the New Year. From Causeway Bay MTR Station take Exit D1. Walk under the tunnel near the World Trade Center to the gun.
Victoria Park and the Hong Kong Central Library are both nearby.
