Xidan Shopping District

Who doesn't like to pay less and get more?

Xidan is one of the biggest business districts in Beijing. It's located west of Tiananmen, mirroring the location of Wangfujing Mall which is on the east of Tiananmen. However, traffic is allowed to go through Xidan West Street. Xidan business district includes Xidan culture square, Xidan West Street and it has many big shopping malls. Xidan is more popular among local people as it's cheap, compared with Wangfujing Mall which is considered a more expensive international shopping street. However, there are an increasing number of foreigners choosing Xidan as their shopping destination.

Beijing Books Building 北京图书大厦

Pictured above, the Beijing Books Building is one of the biggest book stores in China. Besides approximate 300, 000 books which come from more than 500 publishers, there is also a reading room, visual space, children's playground, cafe and food court.

77th Street Plaza 77th 街购物中心

77th Street Plaza is the first shopping mall that features fashion and entertainment for young people in Beijing. 77th Street Plaza is located under Xidan Culture Square (西单文化广场) and linked to subway line 2.

A DJ bar is set up for many shows and sales promotion featuring the latest hot fashions and clothes designs.

There is also a 4D cinema, indoor skating rink, Korean town and many amazing fashion clothes and shoe shops.

Beijing Strategy 北京攻略

There is a saying "If you can't find any clothes that suit you in Beijing Strategy, it means you are not young anymore!" It is a fashion shopping mall where all Beijing teenagers go. Beijing Strategy is located on Level 5-7 in Xidan shopping center (also called Huawei Mall 华威商场) in central of Xidan. The higher the level, the more expensive and better the clothes. However, you may still haggle in many shops here.

Grand Pacific 君太太平洋百货

Grand Pacific is a new shopping center which opened in November 2003. It has a bright and tidy shopping environment. Restaurants located at basement level include Pizza Hut, Haagen-Dazs, Sizzler, Bread Talk, Starbucks, KFC and DQ. Level 1 has makeup products, level 2 & 3 have female clothes and the higher level has sports brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma. Many people like to go shopping at Grand Pacific because of its popular brands, sale promotions and a not very crowded environment. Using a VIP card you may apply for 5% to 10% discount.

Xidan Department Store 西单商场

Beijing Xidan department store used to be one of the major shopping malls in Beijing and it has more than 70 years of history. It is the largest and most well-known department store which has the longest history in Xidan district.

Xidan department store has reached the top of sales figure 15 times among single shopping malls in Beijing since 1986. It features a traditional government-owned corporation style which is considered old fashion although the shopping center has been redecorated.

Zhongyou Department Store 中友百货

Zhongyou Department Store is a new shopping and eating destination among young people. Many intentional brands have branch stores here such as Chanel, Estee Lauder, Dior, Lancome, L'Oreal, Jack & Jones, Only, G-star, Veromoda and Nautica. One of the attractions of Zhongyou is its sale promotions. You may find discounts for all these famous brands here Jack Jones, the brand that doesn't even have membership discount recently had 50% off at Zhongyou. There is a 2007 shopping festival sale promotion at Zhongyou now, so don't miss out on the bargains for these quality clothes.
