Kowloon Park 九龍公園
Kowloon Park in Tsim Sha Tsui is a popular urban oasis. It offers a range of amenities, including lakes, gardens, a swimming pool, sports facilities, and an aviary. The park is known for its beautiful Chinese garden, rose garden, lotus pond and the "Avenue of Comic Stars," featuring statues of popular cartoon characters from the 1960s on.
Formerly the site of the Whitfield Barracks of the British Army, the space also contains the former battery (Kowloon West II Battery).
Covering an area of approximately 13.3 hectares (33 acres), the park was officially opened in 1970.

Aviary
Kowloon Park is home to an aviary featuring a collection of colorful birds from different regions of the world. The aviary is designed to provide a natural habitat for the birds and to educate visitors about different bird species.
The aviary was opened in 1992 and has since become a beloved spot for bird lovers and families. It covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters and features lush greenery, ponds, and walkways.
The aviary's design allows visitors to observe the birds up close while maintaining a safe distance. Inside the aviary, you can find a wide variety of bird species, including parrots, flamingos, peacocks, pheasants, and many others.
There are over 80 different species of birds in total, with more than 600 individual birds residing in the aviary. Each species is carefully curated to provide a diverse and captivating experience for visitors.
Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre
The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is housed in a historic building called the Former Whitfield Barracks. This colonial-era structure was built in the late 19th century and served as a British military barracks.
It has been refurbished and transformed into a cultural hub that showcases Hong Kong's heritage.
The centre features several exhibition halls that present a wide array of displays and interactive exhibits. These exhibitions cover various aspects of Hong Kong's history, including its architecture, urban development, traditional crafts, customs, and cultural traditions. Visitors can explore thematic displays, historical artifacts, multimedia presentations, and informative panels that offer insights into the city's past.
Kowloon Park Access
The park is at the junction of Nathan Road and Haiphong Road with Kowloon Mosque & Islamic Centre (Tel: 2724 0095) on its grounds and the busy Kowloon Park Swimming Complex (Tel: 2724 3577).
The park is easily accessible by various modes of public transportation.
Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui Station (Exit A1) and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the park.
