Black Dragon Pool

Black Dragon Pool Park 黑龙潭公園

Situated on the northern edge of Lijiang's Old Town, Black Dragon Pool Park (Heilongtan Gongyuan) is a large expanse of water created in 1737 during the Qing dynasty. Lijiang Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Temples

There are beautiful views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Deyue Pavilion from the shores of the pool. Around the water's edge are a number of temples and pavilions including the Ming dynasty Five-Phoenix Tower (Wufeng Lu), which dates from 1601. The Museum of Naxi Culture is by the park's north gate and along with the Dongba Research Institute seeks to preserve Naxi culture and traditions.
