Chinese people practice all sorts of weird and wonderful hobbies in the Chinese capital's parks including sword dancing. Chinese sword dancing, or jian wu (剑舞), is a traditional performing art blending martial arts (wushu) with elegant dance, emphasizing both combat agility and artistic grace. Originating over 2,000 years ago, it evolved from military training into a refined performance featuring dramatic, flowing movements, intricate sword handling, and symbolic storytelling, often showcasing the harmony of strength and beauty.
