Temple of Heaven Song
Listen to a short clip of the sound of a group singing in the park near Beijing's Temple of Heaven.
On a cold late winter day, a group of mostly elderly people were gathered in the park next to the Temple of Heaven. Led by a woman who bellowed into a mike, a band seated around her, the song echoed in the open air. A group of 30 or so swayed along to the song.
The musicians were seated under the roof at right in the photo below. In the distance is the main tower of the Temple of Heaven.
