Hong Kong Visas
Unlike visitors to the People's Republic of China, many arrivals in Hong Kong do not require a visa.
Citizens of the European Union (EU), the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and New Zealand can enter Hong Kong for 90 days.
British passport holders receive 180 days and citizens of Qatar, Saudia Arabia, Thailand & South Africa 30 days.
Citizens of Croatia, India, Malta, Macedonia, The Philippines, Suriname and some other nations receive 14 days on arrival.
Citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Iran, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan and others require a visa and should enquire at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home countries.
For visas for China issued in Hong Kong use a reputable travel agent or apply directly at the Visa Office of the People's Republic of China (Tel: 3413 2300) 7F Lower Block, China Resources Centre, 26 Harbour Road, Wan Chai.
A re-entry permit is not necessary during the granted period of stay.
Types of Hong Kong Visa
A variety of visas besides visitor or transit visas are available to reside, study or work in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). These include various types of employment visas for professionals and foreign domestic helpers (FDH).
There are also special visas for training and study as well as the quota-based Quality Migrant Admission Scheme.
Hong Kong has a reciprocal working holiday scheme with Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. The annual quota for Australia is 1000; 100 and 200 for Ireland and New Zealand respectively.

Shenzhen Visa
A 5-day Shenzhen Visa On Arrival (VOA) which allows a 5-day, single entry to the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is available at Lo Wu (Luohu) Station. This is available for a fee for most countries except nationals of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Cameroon, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Uganda, and Yemen.
