What Can You See in Zhuhai?
Places of interest in Zhuhai include the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, a marine-themed amusement park in Hengqin. It opened to the public in 2014 and is currently the largest ocean park in the world, covering an area of over 200 hectares.
The park features a variety of themed areas, including the Polar Horizon, Ocean Avenue, Amazing Amazon, and Dolphin Cove. Visitors can see a wide range of marine creatures, including beluga whales, polar bears, sea lions, penguins, sharks, and many species of fish.
The Zhuhai Opera House, designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, who was also responsible for the London Aquatics Centre in east London is another spectacular must-see in the city. The Zhuhai Opera House (also known locally as the Zhuhai Grand Theatre or 珠海大剧院) is now a major performing arts venue and architectural symbol of Zhuhai.
It is located on Yeli Island at the mouth of Xiangzhou Bay, where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea - giving it a stunning seaside setting. The shell-shaped buildings are particularly spectacular at sunset and when illuminated at night.
The New Yuan Ming Palace northwest of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province is a partial (1/6) reconstruction of the Old Summer Palace in Beijing, destroyed in 1860. It is a sprawling complex that covers an area of approximately 1.4 square kilometers and showcases the essence of traditional Chinese architecture and garden design.
The palace was built as a tribute to the original Yuan Ming Yuan, which was an imperial garden during the Qing Dynasty but was destroyed by Western forces during the Second Opium War in 1860.
Additionally, the Statue of Fisher Girl along Xianglu Bay and the coastal Lovers' Road promenade for sunset views, are both classic Zhuhai highlights.
