Beijing Taxi Tours

Take a tour with some of our drivers out to the world famous Great Wall at Badaling, Mutianyu or Simatai where you can walk, climb or clamber about this almost unfathomable piece of Chinese history. Other out of town destinations well worth adding to day trip itineraries include the Ming Tombs and Lu Guo Qiao (Marco Polo Bridge), with its 485 stone carved lions adorning the rails on top of the huge granite blocks forming this ancient bridge first built in 1192. Chuandixia, a village famous for its stone Ming & Qing dynasty style homes, is still home to about 70 families who will cook up a meal for a very small price. It is well worth the time as it takes you out into the steep mountainous country-side west of the Beijing where you will marvel at how farmers can survive in the harsh environment.

City Tours

Why not book a city tour to see some of Beijing's famous places in history. Take a drive around Tiananmen Square, see the Forbidden City, National Theatre (The Egg), The Temple of Heaven, Drum Tower and drive through the maze of narrow alleys threading your way through centuries old hutongs around Houhai Lake. Further out from the city there is the Summer Palace and Olympic Park. Olympic Park is not only worth a visit during the day time, but also at night to see the famous Birds Nest, Water Cube and Ying Ling Pagoda, beautifully lit beside the tranquil lakes within the park. You may even be lucky enough to see the sometimes lit Technology Centre with its famed runner jogging across the side of the building.

Shopping Tours

Famous modern architecture can be found along the East Third Ring Road with the CCTV Towers being the most recent and striking addition to the famous CBD area. From here you might drive down to Panjiayuan Market (Dirt Market) and pick up some bargains on the weekend or even visit the many stalls now open through the week. Before you head further south of the city you may wish to order several pairs of prescription glasses at the market nearby to Panjiayuan. If you have forgotten your prescription you can have your eyes tested on the spot at some of the stalls. You will go home wishing you had bought glasses in several more styles and colours.

Beijing Taxi Costs

Expect to pay about 600RMB for a trip to the Great Wall to destinations like Badaling. The car is usually large enough for 4 people.

Touring Beijing can be done on the meter if you wish or pay about 600RMB for the day, depending on how long you wish to use the driver. The meter rate reduces while you are stopped in traffic or if your driver is waiting for you while you shop, however we recommend you do the right thing by the driver if he has been waiting for you and give him a tip on top of the meter fare.
