Pudong Skyscrapers, Shanghai, China
Pudong is the high-rise business district of Shanghai. Shanghai's towers include the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center and the 88-story Jin Mao Building.
Shanghai is home to seven supertall skyscrapers and shares fifth place globally with Chicago, Nanjing, and Wuhan for the highest number of such buildings. Since the 2010s, more of these towers have been developed beyond the Lujiazui district, including Sinar Mas Center 1 north of the Bund in 2017 and the Zhangjiang Science Gate towers completed in 2024 - the latter now the tallest twin towers in the city. Four additional supertall buildings are currently under construction, all outside Lujiazui. Among them, the North Bund Tower is set to rise to 480 meters (1,575 feet), making it Shanghai’s third-tallest structure when it is completed in 2030.
