It is now a premier arts venue designed by Paul Andreu. The futuristic, dome-shaped building is located near Tian'anmen Square and the Great Hall of the People. Opened in 2007, it features an opera house, concert hall, and theater surrounded by an artificial lake, serving as a center for world-class performances. The venue is accessed via a 60-meter-long, transparent underpass that goes under the water.
