If the red didn't get your attention, the music was certain to.

In a trinket shop just off the Bund, Chinese pop blared from a speaker. In spite of the crush of shoppers, you were hardly aware of other people due to the noise.

The clerks were amazing in negotiating prices over (under?) the din.
