The 2010 Shanghai Expo Site is located on the Nanpu Bridge - Lupu Bridge, Pudong and Puxi waterfront area on both sides of the Huangpu River. The site will cover a total area of 5.28 km˛.
The vast centerpiece building - "Expo Axis" will have the world's largest membrane structure. Expo Axis is being built by German architects SBA and structural engineers Knippers Helbig. When completed the structure will be one kilometer long and 100 meters wide connecting several metro stations and the elevated pedestrian walkway.
Six “Sun Valleys” open up to the sky from within Expo Axis, letting in light, air and rain water. 700 kilometers of pipeline will channel rain water and geothermal energy to cool and heat the building.

Zones & Pavilions
There will be five zones for Pavilions (A, B, C, D and E) and 12 pavilion groups, eight in the Pudong area and four in Puxi. 42 pavilions will be built by participants themselves, 42 pavilions will be rented out or donated to poorer nations and there will be 11 joint pavilions.
The China Pavilion consists of the 47,000-square-meter Chinese national pavilion, 38,000 square-meter Regional joint pavilion and 3,300 square-meter pavilion of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Corporate pavilions include the Space Pavilion, the Aurora Pavilion, ROK Joint-Corporate Pavilion and the State Grid Pavilion.
The Expo Performance Centre will have performance space both above and below ground.
Solar panels placed on the various Expo structures will create China's largest solar power system at 5-megawatts.
Exotic cultural icons making the journey to Shanghai's Expo include the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen in Denmark and a 5-ton octopus sign from a takoyaki restaurant in Osaka.
200 food outlets on site will be able to cater for 40,000 diners at a go.
Tickets
There are both Standard Day tickets including Single Day Admission, Special Admission (for senior citizens, students, military personnel and the disabled), 3-day Admission, 7-day Admission and Evening Admission tickets and Peak Day tickets.
Peak Days include the "Labor Day" Holiday (May 1-3, 2010), "National Day" Holiday (October 1-7, 2010), and the last week before the closing date (October 25-31, 2010), with 17 days in total.
The expected price for a Standard Day ticket is 160 RMB, with opening day tickets at 190 RMB already sold out.

Expo 2010 is projected to be the most visited Expo in history with an estimated 70 million visitors expected to attend over the six months of the event. On peak days visitor numbers could be as high as 800,000. Emergency medical service centers will cater to anyone overcome by the heat and crowds.

4 Expo ferries with a capacity of 500 people will sail on the Huangpo River to carry people to the Expo site. A bus route from Xizang Road in Puxi through the new Longyao Road Tunnel will connect the pavilions in various zones on either side of the river.
Three subway stations will serve the Expo site with stations on a new extension of Line 13. The line will connect with Line 9 at Madang Road. Line 8 will also serve the Expo site.
