Hong Hong's Peak Tram has been in operation since 1888 and is the world's steepest funicular railway. The tram travels up from the Lower Peak Tram Terminus in Central on Hong Kong Island to Peak Tower via four intermediate stations: Kennedy Road, Macdonnell Road, May Road & Barker Road.

The Peak Tram runs daily, including weekends and public holidays, between 7am and midnight. A tram departs every 10-15 minutes. The terminus in Central is on Garden Road, a short walk through Chater Garden from J2 exit of the Central MTR station.

Peak Tram Fares

Fares are presently HK$22 for adult single or HK$33 for return. Children (ages 3-11) HK$8 single or HK$15 return; senior citizens (65+) HK$8 single or HK$15 return. The Octopus Card is valid on the Peak Tram.

The Peak Tram can carry up to 120 passengers, including 95 seated and 25 standing. The two tramcars run in opposite directions over 90 times each day carrying on average 11,000 people every day.

There are buses to and from The Peak and walking paths to the top. Bus #15 is an antique open top double decker to Peak Tram Terminal from Edinburgh Place, next to City Hall.

Peak Tower (Tel: 2849 7654) has a branch of Madame Tussaud's wax museum plus the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, shops, restaurants and amusements.
