A VIP area was added and the press box expanded. Also upgraged were the arena's acoustics, electrical, lighting, seating and ventilation systems. The 13,000 capacity Workers Indoor Arena (Beijing Workers' Gymnasium) will stage the 2008 Olympic boxing event and the judo tournament at the 2008 Paralympics. The arena is located just to the north west of Workers Stadium. Completed in 1961 the arena staged the World Table Tennis Championships of that year. Access Workers Indoor Arena Dongsishitiao Subway Station is a 15 minute walk to the west of the stadium.
